In Windows 8.1 Microsoft have allowed you to boot directly to the desktop. Skipping the new start menu interface. Microsoft have not made it very clear on how you actually activate this.
Here are the steps you need to follow:
- After booting up Windows 8.1 enter the desktop.
- Right click in an empty area of the desktop and select "Properties".
- Click the "Navigation" tab.
- In the "Start Screen" area make sure the is a tick in the box "Go to the desktop instead of Start when I sign in".
- Click "Apply" and "OK"
That is it. Next time your start your PC it will load up directly into the desktop.
