The Founder's Log Podcast - July 2023

July 2023 was a mixture of frustration and euphoria. We had quite an influx of businesses contacting us wanting to partner with Kimbley IT; some of these were a match and have now partnered with us. 

After having what we felt was an excellent discovery, one of these leads ghosted us. It seems that people struggle to say "no thanks". We manage to get some acknowledgement from them after many attempts. Their reason for opting not to partner with Kimbley IT was frustrating; they'd contacted us initially because IT was not something they knew about. 

They were currently operating in a hodgepodge of different systems, making it difficult for them to collaborate. Making them an ideal candidate that would benefit from a move to Google Workspace by Kimbley IT. We had a 40-minute video call with one of the directors, which went well. Of course, before committing, they would need to speak with their fellow directors. This is always difficult as they now need to sell a service they have basic knowledge about to their fellow decision-makers. Naturally, we offered a video call with all four directors, so we could answer any questions that might arise. 

Sadly they rejected our offer of a video call and, after many attempts chasing up, gave the reason that they felt Google Drive was not the correct solution, which is an odd decision to come to when openly admitting that your knowledge of technology is non-existent. It's akin to telling a lawyer their case to defend you is incorrect without any legal ability to make that call. They will likely continue to struggle with their IT.

Kyle and James visited an IT owner's meetup in Wolverhampton - and we did not go just for the free pizza! It was good chatting with other business owners. However, our one feedback to the group was to allow vendors to visit the meetup but ban them from pitching, as other groups do. One vendor spent 40 minutes pitching out-of-date passport scanning devices.

Both videos covered Google Chat, and the video showing how to install Google Voice on your computer was surprisingly popular and continues to bring in an increasing amount of views and new subscribers to the channel.

July Assistance and Support Statistics

In July, we got contacted 132 times by subscribers. One hundred eight of those getting in touch requested assistance (they want to know how to do something better). Twenty-four asked for support (something needs to get fixed).

Out of the subscribers sending a message for support, 13 received a response and returned to doing their work within five minutes. Eight received a reply and returned to their work within thirty minutes, two took between thirty minutes and one hour, and one took over an hour to resolve, with a dead laptop needing to be replaced.

Of those who sent a message for assistance asking how to do something better, 80 received a response within five minutes, now being able to do something better than they could before. Twenty-seven received a reply within thirty minutes, and one took over an hour as it was a more complex request with many knock-on effects that needed to be understood.

The stats show that fifteen subscribers would not have gotten in contact if the companies they worked for had offered regular training through Learning Sessions by Kimbley IT.
