How to install the Google Voice desktop app on your computer!

Google Voice is a component of Google Workspace that provides your business with a contemporary internet-based phone system. You can generate phone numbers as needed, set up an automated attendant to direct calls to the appropriate individual and create call groups so that the right team member can respond to incoming calls and make outgoing calls from a recognisable number.

Your team can conveniently access Google Voice through Gmail's sidebar, the Google Voice homepage, or the mobile app. In addition to these options, Google recently introduced an installable computer app that allows easy access to Google Voice through an icon on your Windows taskbar or Dock on a Mac.

Here is how you install the Google Voice app on your computer

Did you know the Google Voice app is a progressive web app (PWA)? This means that instead of downloading and installing the app, it runs through your existing web browser, making installation super quick. If you have a modern browser like Chrome or Edge already installed on your computer, you can easily install the Google Voice app in just a few clicks.

  • Firstly, head over to voice.google.com and keep an eye on the end of the address bar, as an install icon will appear that you'll need to click. Once it appears, click the install icon and then click the word "Install" on the pop-up that appears.

  • Immediately after you click Install, Google Voice should appear in its window on your screen. The Google Voice app is now installed, but remember to pin it to your taskbar or dock before you close the window so you can easily reaccess it in the future.
