How to block website notifications in Google Chrome.

Website notifications are fantastic. They let you see quick snippets of information you are interested in without having to visit the website - such as having a notification appear when you receive a new email in Gmail, or a calendar appointment becomes due.

However, recently every website and its dog wants you to sign up to receive their notifications. Getting notification overload is a real possibility. However, it is possible to block notifications in Google Chrome, if you know where to look.

  • Go to the website.

  • In the address bar click the padlock icon.

  • Under the option for notifications change this setting from “Allow” to “Block”.

  • Click anywhere out side of the settings window to close.

  • Reload the web page for the new settings to get implemented.
