How to speed up Windows startup.

Is your Windows PC taking an eternity to start up? The culprit could be the multitude of programs automatically launching in the background when you log in, slowing down your computer's performance.

These programs run in the background, so when you want to use them, they are ready and waiting and can react instantly, which is acceptable for programs you use every time you use your computer, such as Google Drive. But for programs you only use once in a while, you don't want them running all the time, taking up resources.

Using the Windows settings app, you can easily stop these programs from running when you start your computer.

How to turn off unneeded apps.

Using the Settings app on Windows, you can turn off apps you don't use from running during startup. The Settings app helpfully shows you the impact each app has on your computer's startup so you can quickly identify apps slowing down your machine.

  • Click the start button.

  • Open the "Settings" app.

  • Click "Apps" on the left-side column.

  • Click "Startup".

  • Toggle to "Off" the apps you want to stop running at startup.
