The Founders Log - August 2026 Review

August was as quiet as I expected for new enquiries, with most people away for the summer holidays. The biggest news of the month came from a business we already know well.

One of our long-standing clients is now part of a larger business. The overall group has been so impressed with the IT that they have decided to follow in our client's footsteps and move the whole organisation to Google Workspace by Kimbley IT. Right now, their files are spread across a physical server holding around 22 terabytes, SharePoint sites, and people's own OneDrive accounts, making it hard to know where the latest version of anything lives. Everything will end up in shared drives. The move will happen in phases: files used in the last 90 days go first, and older data gets archived. Google Chat will replace both Teams and Slack. The plan is for them to go live with Google Workspace by Kimbley IT in January.

Two of the team at another client are setting up property investment businesses alongside their day jobs. I set up Google Workspace for one of them and helped the other set up their own, with a view to them both coming on board once the businesses get going. A marketing agency owner who has followed me on LinkedIn for a while also got in touch. He's on Microsoft 365, doesn't like it, and wants to talk about moving to Google Workspace with us. We have a video call booked for early September.

Not all of August's news was good. A client of almost six years gave notice that they're moving to another IT provider - they're in financial distress, but sadly, the owner didn’t reach out to me to see if we could help before signing an agreement with another provider. I’m certain we could have helped them out through the rough patch. Their contract runs until May next year, but I agreed to end it on 31 December so they can move in January. They'll get exactly the same service from us until then, and we'll help with the handover.

Assistance and Support Statistics

In August, our clients’ team members contacted us 140 times. 91 of those contacts were for assistance, where a team member wanted to know how to do something, and 49 were for support, where something was not working as it should.

Of the 91 assistance contacts, 27 were resolved in less than five minutes, 36 were resolved in between five and thirty minutes, 18 were resolved in over thirty minutes but less than an hour, and 10 were resolved in longer than an hour.

Of the 49 support contacts, 5 were resolved and the team member back at their work in less than five minutes, 28 were resolved and the team member back at their work in between five and thirty minutes, 6 were resolved and the team member back at their work in over thirty minutes but less than an hour, and 10 were resolved and the team member back at their work in longer than an hour.

All of these contacts came to us through our instant messaging support service.

27 team members would not have needed to get in contact if the companies they worked for offered regular training through Learning Sessions by Kimbley IT.
