Escaping the 9 to 5 trap

The 9 to 5 workday is ingrained in Western work culture – no thanks to Dolly Parton. But the 8-hour workday has existed long before the 1970s – the practice goes back hundreds of years to when work had to be carried out during daylight.

Obviously this approach worked, persisting even after the invention of effective, low-cost lighting. But the changing marketplace means that sticking to a rigid 9 to 5 may actually harm your business.
