Privacy Policy Browser Extensions

Last updated: April 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how browser extensions published by Kimbley IT ("we", "us", "our") handle user data. It applies to all current and future browser extensions we publish, unless an individual extension states otherwise in its own policy. By installing and using one of our extensions, you agree to the terms set out below.

1. Data We Collect

Our extensions are designed to collect and process only the minimum data required to function. Depending on the specific extension, the following categories of data may be involved:

  • Website content. When you actively trigger an extension on a web page, the extension may read the visible text or other on-page content of that page in order to deliver the feature you have requested (for example, generating a summary). This happens only when you choose to use the extension on a specific page — never in the background, and never on pages you have not explicitly acted on.

  • Authentication information (API keys). If an extension allows you to connect to a third-party service (such as an AI provider), you may enter an API key that you obtain yourself from that provider. This key is stored locally on your own device.

  • User preferences. Your chosen settings — such as the selected provider, display options, language, and feature toggles — are stored locally on your device.

We do not collect personally identifiable information (such as your name, email address, phone number, or identification numbers), health information, financial or payment information, personal communications, location data, web browsing history, or any form of user tracking, profiling, or analytics.

2. How We Use Your Data

Data is used solely to deliver the single, stated purpose of each extension.

  • Website content may be processed locally by your browser, or sent to a third-party service that you have selected and configured, for the sole purpose of delivering the feature you have requested.

  • API keys are used only to authenticate requests to the third-party provider you have chosen. They are never sent to Kimbley IT and are never used for any other purpose.

  • User preferences are used only to configure the extension according to your chosen settings.

We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, profiling, analytics, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's core function.

3. How We Store Your Data

All data handled by our extensions is stored locally on your own device using the browser's built-in storage APIs (such as chrome.storage.sync and chrome.storage.local).

  • API keys are stored in your browser's extension storage, which is sandboxed to the extension and inaccessible to other extensions or to any website you visit.

  • User preferences are stored in your browser's extension storage and may sync between your own devices if you are signed in to your browser with sync enabled. This syncing is handled entirely by your browser vendor (e.g. Google); Kimbley IT has no access to it.

  • Temporary session data (such as the most recent result from the extension) may be held in your browser's local storage for a short period so the extension can display or re-use it. This data is overwritten with each new use of the extension.

  • Website content is only held in memory during the active request and is not written to any persistent storage.

No data handled by our extensions is stored on any server operated by Kimbley IT. We do not run any backend infrastructure for our extensions.

4. How We Share Your Data

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your data to any third party for marketing, advertising, or profiling.

The only sharing that occurs is when you choose to connect an extension to a third-party service (for example, an AI provider). In that case:

  • The data required by the feature (such as extracted page text) and your API key are sent directly from your browser to the third-party provider's servers.

  • All such communication takes place over encrypted HTTPS connections.

  • The data is sent directly from your device to the provider — it never passes through any Kimbley IT server, and we do not receive, read, store, or have access to any of it.

Third-party providers have their own privacy policies governing how they handle the data you send them. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any provider you choose to use. Commonly supported providers include Anthropic (anthropic.com/legal/privacy), OpenAI (openai.com/policies/privacy-policy), and Google (policies.google.com/privacy).

5. Data Security

All communication between our extensions and any third-party service takes place over encrypted HTTPS connections. API keys and preferences are stored using your browser's built-in storage APIs, which are sandboxed to the extension and cannot be accessed by other extensions or by websites you visit.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

You remain in full control of your data at all times:

  • You can view, edit, or delete any stored data at any time through the extension's Options or Settings page.

  • You can remove all data stored by an extension by uninstalling it from your browser. When an extension is uninstalled, the browser deletes all associated extension storage automatically.

  • Where an extension supports on-device processing (such as a built-in browser AI), you may choose that option, in which case no data leaves your device.

7. Children's Privacy

Our extensions are not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.

8. Compliance with Browser Developer Programme Policies

We comply with the Chrome Web Store Developer Programme Policies (including Limited Use requirements) and equivalent policies of other browser extension stores where we publish. Specifically, we confirm that:

  • We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties for purposes unrelated to the extension's single stated function.

  • We do not use or transfer user data for advertising, marketing, or any purpose outside the extension's stated function.

  • We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

  • We do not allow humans to read user data unless we have your explicit consent for a specific purpose, it is required for security reasons, or it is anonymised and aggregated for internal operations.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our extensions or to legal requirements. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
